Integrative Health Counseling

Whether you suffer from old emotional wounds that block your path to living happy and fulfilling life, or you are currently challenged by a sudden accident, loss, or physical ailment that has knocked you off your course, Shelley English can help you regain your strength to meet the challenges ahead. As an experienced trauma counselor and patient advocate, Shelley English, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with masters degrees in Developmental and Clinical Psychology, believes that there are circumstances in which the use of Integrative Health Services are necessary to support the body's natural intelligence and healing process. Integrative Health Counseling requires careful and thorough life span analysis of a patient's physical and emotional history. A traumatic experience can cause long term physical and psychological health consequences for even the most resilient patient. If symptoms of trauma that manifest from past and current traumatic experiences are ignored or unidentified, and therefore untreated, psychic and physical pain manifests within patients, and often their families, friends, and loved ones as well.

As an LMHC specializing in trauma, Shelley English is committed to treating her patients with the dignity they deserve and the individual attention they need to help them heal. Integrative Health Counseling requires the support of a counselor trained in the art of combining complimentary disciplines that jump start bodily processes in such a way that healing is promoted and supported. Based upon the health status and preferences for treatment modalities, Shelley English designs plans to promote synergistic changes in health status, through reintegration of the soma/body and psyche/mind. Reintegration is achieved through multimodal therapies combined to help patients learn how to regulate their positive physical and psychological responses to stress, to promote recovery of health and well being. Shelley English works in conjunction with patients and doctors to design individualized Integrative Wellness Programs and packages that offer a wide range of health care services as determined through analysis of health histories, current medical and psychological profiles, and ability to participate in the process set forth in their individual health programs.

In order for her patients to achieve their goals, Shelley English provides individual and/or group support for patients, and will coordinate supplementary services such as acupuncture, massage, and yoga to augment healing when necessary.

Home visits are available when medically necessary and upon request, within NYC and throughout the tri-state area (with a supplementary fee based upon travel distance).
